    RX7 brake upgrade.

So ive pieced together all the parts i need for my rx7 brake upgrade.

Heres a rundown on the cost and parts that i picked up.

    RX-7 fc3s calipers - 21$ used @ local pullapart.
RX-7 brake pads - ~60$ off ebay. hawk hps
adapter braket - 9$ cost of the tap for 12x1.5 already had the material
Corrado G60 front brake rotors - free, had them lying around from my vw days
Brake line adapter - free @ local pullapart, come from any volvo around 1987ish.

all and all im in this for 90$. its not bad all things considered, expect the price to go up considerably if you cant source or make the parts yourself.

All in all pulling together the parts wasnt hard. I do have a drill press and the ability to make my own adapters. the major cost of all of this for me were the pads, mostly because i love going to local yards for treasure. I am going to test fit everything hopefully tommrow and see if i will need to do any adjustments. I still need to bore out the centers of the rotors. i have a little drum sander im planning on using. 1mm isnt a huge deal, so it shouldnt be a problem.

Im planning on using the stock brake lines, i will upgrade to stainless in the future. Also, i pulled a master cylinder from a e32 735i that i might add if i feel i would like a firmer pedal after the major components get installed and working.

Heres a shitty cell pic. If you have any questions, just ask.

Sorry, FC, however, FD's bolt up the same and should work fine. the FC's came on the front of any rx7 GXL, turbo or convertable.

Update, i got one side test fitted. So far what im seeing, I need to get some small spacer washers for centering of the caliper on the rotor, it needs 1-2mm of spacing in to the car. I will also need to swap out my 15mm spacers on the front wheels to a 18 or 20mm spacer because the caliper hits the wheel. Other than that, I had to make a bit of clearance for my caliper adapter bracket after i cut away the piece of metal behind the brake rotor.

All in all, i think i have everything i need, and will have this going on pretty soon permanently. Heres a couple more pictures.

Care to make some more brackets? :)

Seems like no one is willing to, and a machine shop will charge too much for just one pair.

Also, would you mind taking a pic of the adapter that you made?

If you can come up with 10 people that want a set. I will make them for $75 shipped. I could also supply modified rotors. I don't think it's going to happen though. Too many wishy washy folks here.

It really isn't worth the effort to make less than 10 sets.

I know, we had 5 people that actually paid, including myself. I will look at the other stuff posted above and who know's maybe I'll try to get them done myself.

If not, we can try to run a group buy!

Just a little update, I think i might sell this 'kit' as ive been looking at my bank account and my bald tires on the 16's, and well, i have a set or 14's with tires. And these brakes wont fit under 14's. So im either holding off on putting these on the car until i get new tires for the 16's, selling them to fund tires for the 16's, or keeping them and running my 14's for a while. Who knows.

This is not a for sale ad, but if anyone is interested in this stuff PM me an offer, im still undecided.
