    Help: Rusted brakes (pics)

My car has been sitting in my grandparents driveway since about november and hasnt been driven. My grandparents are on vacation so they have an extra slot in the garage. When we tried to move the car the wheels wouldnt move adn the backend just lifted of the ground! It was scary :!:

I took this oportunity to try out my jack and jackstands. The tire wouldnt even spin. I took of the wheel and the caliper and rotors are shot! I think i earned the award of most rusted rotors! When I tried to spin the roters it took alot of force, there just rusted together. After I got everything back on we tried again and we got it moving into the garage. We had to give it alot of gas to get to move ( about 3,000 rpms).

My dad just siad it needs to be driven around but i really think It all needs replaced. So what do you guys suggest? Rotors, caliper, and the pads? or should i just rebuild the caliper and replace the rotors and pads?

    any help would be Appreciated
    Thanks soo much in advance!

Drive on them for a week, check after that. It looks like mostly surface rust, unless the rotors are grooved, and the pads are worn down to nothing, you shouldn't need to replace anything yet.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

Tell your mom she doesn't know what she's talking about, and go fix your brakes. :D

I've been telling her that all along! The damn MB already has things breaking on it and she admited she missed the power of the bmw (and it's only an ETA).

              Its just surface rust.

              Go drive them, brake often.

              it will clean off.

if it doesnt THEN replace shit.

Most of my friends didn't believe how fast rotors rust, and they thought my brakes were shot when I was lowering it. I laughed at them, hard. ;)
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

The car had 100% no rust untill it started sitting outside for the first time in all its life in november.

No kidding! I washed my car a few days ago. By the time I was done drying it up I noticed that the rotors already had a nice layer of rust beginning to form.
