Don't know about you guys, but my rotors get a thin coating of rust if the car sits for more than a few hours in the rain or after washing. Comes right off after a couple normal stops.

Car hasnt been driven yet :xOriginally posted by robert325ishave you gotten this fixed yet?
Car still needs to be drivin :x
Everytime I want to start the car I have to jump it, I think it needs a new battery, I hope thats all it needs.
Well today I took a cailper off and checked the pads, they looks brand new and the rotors are thick so It just needs driven.
When I was jacking up the drivers side the jack went straight threw the jacking area behind the wheel  It was all rusted out. The other side was strong though.Comment

[quote="Schneider325"]I'm guessing you put the jack in the wrong spot. How do the brakes feel? Does the car stop alright? Or do you really have to press hard to get the car to stop? Looking at the calipers, they don't look good. After sitting, the seals aound the piston can deteriorate and cause the piston to not moving in out out correctly causing the pads to wear unevenly.
I would drive it for a week or two and then check back to see how they look. If the pedal pulsates, you more then likely have uneven rotors and they will need to be turned or replaced. If the break pads are wearing unevenly, the calipers will need to be rebuilt. The pistons might not fully retract also if the seals are bad. This causes the breaks to rub, pad life to decrease and if bad enough, the build up of heat which can warp the rotors.Comment

Dude, it's surface rust.Originally posted by NitroRustlerDriverHow do the brakes feel? Does the car stop alright? Or do you really have to press hard to get the car to stop? I see no reason why this thread has continued after the "drive the damn car" comment.

You need to push on the gas damn hard to even move the car cause of how much surface rust there is.
I took one of the calipers off yesterday and the metal running all the way back to the piston is all rusted. its probably just surface rust like everyone was saying. We'll never know till someone drives the car. The pads look brand new and there wear is even.
I cant wait till the summer so I can really get to know what these parts look like and what not i had no idea what the piston looked like till the other day. i amagined it would be a little round whole or something :oops:Comment

Surface rust should not cause you to have to give it a lot of gas. Maybe your parking brake pads are rusted locked or something. Might want to pull the rotor and take a look.
Brakes are not something you want to just "drive and hope they work." If you don't have good working brakes then you are in a world of hurt when you need them.Comment
