PBR makes some of the worst brakepads on the market (Deluxe and Metal Masters).

I have the metal masters and hate them. Not horrible, but I just don't like them.

I ran them in my e36, they were virually dustless but stopped like flintstone brakes.

I've run the PBR MetalMaster pads in the past with the Ate PowerDisc rotors on the front. Here are my thoughts on them....

            Pros:
Once warmed up, the bite they offered was good to haul the car down from speed.
Provided a solid feel....nothing unusual even when pushed hard repeatedly.

            Cons:
Dusty mo-fos. Found myself constantly cleaning my wheels.
Fronts did last a long time (probably due to the machined grooves of the PowerDiscs)

Based on what I learned from using them, I have to say these pads are "ok"....not great.

Ran the PBR MM's and liked them a lot, but I don't have any other performance pads to compare. Much better fade resistance than the Deluxe pads, but much more dust.

What are some performance pads ya'll liked?

I'm thinking about EBC green stuff next.

What sort of driveing do you do?

We usually use the Delux set on 5 and 7s just because they are for around town only cars and are not high performance. The Metal Masters we use for those people who like to go to an auto x ever once in a while and have small little quick cars. For any E30 who doesn't go to the race track I would recomend MM. Best bang for the buck. They stop when they are cold or warm unlike race pads or any other high performance. They are a step over in performance from your factory pads. They will dust but it doesn't eat the finish on your rims unlike the factory pad dust does.

I had MetalMasters on my old E30. They sucked. They had no initial bite. It was a very gradual buildup of breaking force. ALWAYS squeaked too. Hot, cold, anything. Even after using anti-squeal compound. Or maybe that was just in my case. Either way, they suck. Don't get em.

Good luck in the challenge, is this your first one?

My old Yugo was in the 1500-2004 challenges. Not by me though, but by Johnny P.

Just put the Ceramics on my car and like everyone says they dust like crazy, but they stop very well. I have heard the Metal Masters stop almost as well and have almost no dust. I wash my car on average 2 times a week so the dust doesn't bother me that much, but if you want your wheels to stay lookin good between washes I would probably go with the Metal Masters.
