    ABS Unit delete

    Is there a DIY about that anywhere ? I searched (here, E30Zone, E30tech and Google) and did not find anything.

    I'd like to know how to do the hardlines, tools needed, parts needed, etc.

    If you help me I'll do a good DIY with pictures.

    My shit needs a cleaner bay !!!

    Is it really worth deleting the ABS Just for space? How will this affect the brakes?

      It does not work anyway.

        So fix the ABS. It isn't a complicated system, consisting only of the ABS module, the ABS unit, and the four wheel speed sensors.
        The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

            hard parkers don't need good brakes or ABS ;)

            I think if you search though there is definitely some info out there. Not like it's never been done before.

              I have a picture of my bypass somewhere, but on the MC the rear line is left alone, then the two fronts are cut and flanged and threaded into either end of a spare e30 rear hardline T. Out of the bottom of the T (top in the car) I ran a short piece to my front MC hole. Brakes feel great. I took the pump out and the associated wiring and brain from my car too. It's really not too hard, especially with the electrical troubleshooting pdf's.

                For the others, I hate ABS and it never worked on my car, that's why I want to get rid of the unit. And it will let more place for my air filter. ;)

                  Salut Jim,

                  This is how I plumbed mine (everything is finger screwed in the pic)



                  You need to make 4 new lines if you make the piping like mine. 3 of them
                  are easy but the one that goes to the passenger front wheel is a bit
                  complicated (lots of bend and hard to fit in there, probably even more
                  for you because of the swap. You could also do it in two parts to make it
                  easier.

                  You need a few tools to it, this is what I used:

                  -Pipe bender (try to find one that makes the smallest radius you can find,
                  it makes life easier when you have to fit lines in a tight spot)
                  -Flaring tool (most cheap flaring tools are sold without the "nipple" to
                  make bubble flares and you need it so buy one)
                  -pipe cutter
                  -new brake pipes+fittings(m10)+ 1x T(get it from bmw pn #34341111435
                  I didn't and I regret it)



                  I removed 5 lines, the abs unit itself, the abs computer and I left most of
                  the wiring there in case I ever want to put it back in. I just tucked all the
                  connectors and removed the sensors.

                  It may not be the best way to do it but it is the second time I do it this
                  way and it works great.

                      I went to a junk yard and bought OEM non ABS e30 lines... Most stock master cylinders have a third port in the master cylinder that is plugged that you use.

                        i also did this, but when i did mine i put in an adjustable proportioning valve in for the rear brakes :D

                          Is this the plug you refer to (#3) on diagram....If this is used for the passenger side brake is it on the same circuit as the rear side port?(the one closest to the booster)
                          If so this would eliminate the need for a "Tee" no?

                            so can u use the lines that are in bay just cut them and flare them and couple them to new lines to the master cylinder ? i need that space for an overflow tank :)

                              That's what I did, I reused all of my original line and fittings from the abs pump to make the pieces i needed. No new line, just clever use of scrap from removing the pump. Just an extra t fitting.
