    Removing Ebrake cable...

    Hey,

I searched before posting, but I am still having a problem.

    First - I found this post: http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...ke&t=15959

It helps. However, I'm still not sure how to get that piece in the pic out all together?

Can someone please explain this to me? I could spend a long time trying to figure it out, but was wondering if someone had a better way of explaining it for me?

    Thanks!

just knock the pin out on the end of the cable (a hamer & screwdriver should be enough), and pull the backing plate over the cable. it's simple. :)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm having ZERO luck.

I think i see the pin you're talking about, but it's recessed in that little piece of metal, so I can't drive it out.

I'm at a loss. I've begun to unbolt the trailing arms. I'm just gonna leave them below the car and take out the subframe alone.

        Here are some pics tho:

The pics show what I'm workin with. Maybe you can help me better understand what I'm suppose to be messin with?

I know it comes out, because I took the trailings arms off my car. ;)

hit it with some penetrating oil, see if that loosens it up. also try heating it.

I never had any luck. Mine were rusted/siezed to shit.

I dragged the trailing arms around by the ebrake cables.

Nothing's really rusted on mine. What is it that I should be poking at?

I'm still not sure what I should be poking, proding, pulling at.

Can you guys throw an arrow on one of my pics for me? :D

I know it seems stupid, but if I can get them off, awesome. If not, I'll just leave it as is, and move on.

See the piece? See the cable? See the circle near the end of the cable, on the peice. Fucking nail that son of a bitch with a punch or something or nail or whatever. Just known it out.

Some lucky sons of guns said theirs nearly fell out. Well not mine. It didn't budge ever.

                  Gotcha!

So...how do I get that piece out exactly? LOL

I'm trying to pry it out - maybe i'm not prying in the right spot?

Are you suppose to seperate the pads, and pull that whole piece out or somethin?

get a hammer, and something long, like a screwdriver.. and knock the pin out on the end of the ebrake cable that's in the above picture.

I can probably get the pin out. But, the part the pin's in (that fairly large piece of metal) - it's still in my drum brake. And I'm not sure how to get it out.

                      Maybe I'm not understanding something?

Sorry, just not sure myself yet, about the ebrake crap lol

EDIT: I think I understand now. I'm going to go try my idea!! lol

No go...I'll try again tomorrow I guess. What I'm trying to figure out is how to get the piece of metal that the pin is going thru out like it is in the picture.

got it! Not sure what I did differently, but I finally got the bitches off. The interesting part will be getting them back in.

So, my subframes off now...now to get those subframe bushings out...god all mighty!

yeah, you have to take apart the ebrake first. ;)

the bentley describes the whole thing pretty well. you have one, right?

parking brakes are my absolute least favorite work. For me those pins fell right out, however the parking cable on the driver side just didn't want to come out. A friend came over and was surgical with some PB and a pair of pliers... he got the cable to come out.
