You're literally better off buying an abs car than trying to install abs.

AFAIK 86+ E30s all came with ABS, only the early ones were without.

I have an '86 325es that doesn't have ABS, and this troubles me. I thought all sport models were basically loaded, but I do know that ABS certainly was an option for my car. So, if it was a factory option for my car back in '86, is it possible to upgrade mine at least?

            thanks

            by the way, first post[/list]

There is way to much stuff that you would need to switch out and buy, that buying a new car is almost always cheaper...

Back in '86, ABS was a "new feature" and was like another 1,000- 2,000 dollars. That's why we didn't order it at the time...too much money.

We should have gotten it.. it might have helped me in that full 1.5 circle spin I did on the highway in the rain once...

My non-running car (Dolphin/Burgundrot 1986 325es) has ABS. But it's not just the sensors at the wheels there is an ABS computer somewhere inside the dash...if you want to fly to San Francisco, see some sights, do a timing belt and some possible headwork (maybe a 731 head upgrade perchance) .... I will sell it to you cheap.... ;)

i dont really even like abs. I feel like i can brake better then it, at least in the dry. One time i was going really fast in my dads x5 and someone pulled out of a driveway and i braked enough to make the tires make noise but not enough to engage abs. and as a swerved around them i slowly let off, pretty tight if you ask me

what happens if you're on uneven pavement, or there is some gravel on one side of the road, or if it's wet? you'd be fucked.

also if you are good at threshold braking you should only need abs in emergency situations. I don't think I've ever had my abs come on in an autox..

Exactly, ABS only comes into play when a wheel is going to lock up.

Nay, the wheel has to lock up first for ABS to come on.

nickmposer, your are a douchebag and have no idea what you are talking about ever.

i said in the dry, and i race go karts and have plenty of threshold braking experience. There have been many times where there was dirt or fluid on the track or tires, or cold tires and i always to manage to stop with out dieing.

LMAO Stop withiout dieing? lol Alot of professional race car drivers can stop without dieing. Hell, a lot of moms on their cell phones can stop their Hummer H2 without dieing but they will still hit stuff! lol
