I run the stock setup with the akebono euro pads. Works great and those pads are noise free and nearly dust free.
Brake upgrade suggestions?

When I over hauled my brakes I kept stock calipers but refreshed them. Everything else I bought in a kit from turnermotorsports. 4x cross drilled rotors, upgraded pads, SS lines, blue fluid. This is a daily driver and I can't be more pleased!
You can most defiantly part it together cheaper but I needed brakes in a hurry and turners turn around time is amazing. Had everything I needed in 4 days from payment. With standard shipping.Comment

Thanks for the advice everybody. So far, I'm looking into the Turner Motorsports kit. But I'll check out the Pagid pads as well.'87 325i "Chewey" (RIP, my beloved)

Come on. Wheres the adventure in running factory bolt on? Anyone wanna chime in with something interesting. Im in the same boat and the stock brakes suck. My Turbo e30 could benefit from an upgrade, ive seen the rx7 and a guy using e32 brakes i think, what else has been tried?Comment

i also liked drilled or slotted or drilled and slotted rotors with some street pads and some fresh nice fluid. those always gave me happy results for a street car that never saw a track. ducting is also pretty good but backing plates can cost a pretty pennyOriginally posted by evandaela car is a car. call it a dildo, i'd still drive the hell out of it.Comment

OP here. I went with Zimmerman rotors on the front and Maxstar pads all around. Left the rear rotors alone for now and the calipers were fine but I had em cleaned up. Also upgraded to SS brake lines.'87 325i "Chewey" (RIP, my beloved)

My favorite so far is my UUC kit that i got with the sloted/plated rotors front and rear w/Hawk pads and a set of SS brake lines. Flushed all the old fluid out. With everything it was like ~$400. Paint the brake calipers and it all looks and functions very nice.sigpicComment

I recently refreshed front and back with vented (front) and solid (rear) Brembo rotors, Turner Motorsport Rebuilt OEM calipers, PBR Ultimate Ceramic front pads and Textar OEM rear pads with a full ATE blue fluid flush. For what I do (spirited driving/light track) its one of the best feeling and operating set ups I've had and I'm using stock rubber lines too. The PBR ceramics don't dust too bad but by no means are they dustless.
+1 for Blunttech I got all the parts expect the calipers from them and I couldn't be more pleased with the prices and super fast shipping.Comment
