Hawk HP Plus Pad Squeal...Does it get better?????

Just installed a set of HP Plus pads on my car and the squealing is literally unbearable. I mean I knew what I was getting into with aggressive pads but it's to the point where I'm embarrassed to drive my car. Anybody know if these get any quieter with time? Suggestions? :(

All depends on how well you did your brake job. Did you use the backing plates? They help with squeal a lil bit. When I ran them they only made noise under light breaking and then it tappered off.

They squeal like pigs unless you use a metric crap ton of brake goop. That's just how they are.

HP+ pads are just gonna squeal unless they are fully hot, which probably isn't going to happen on the street. Interestingly, I never hear squeal from the PFC-01 race pads I use on my Spec E30 unless they are hot and lightly used.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks for all the help...I guess they essentially will be getting better. I don't know anything about bedding in pads...so not sure what i could do there. And Castro's installed them so I have full faith that the install is not to blame. : )

Does anyone know how the HP + compare to HPS pads, noise/performance wise?

                      HPS suck.

My HP+s don't squeal until they start to get warm.

My buddy's e30///M3 with HP+s squealed like a stuck pig everytime you brushed the brake pedal. *shrug*

It helps to lube the contact/slide points on the caliper and the pad backings to dampen vibrations that cause the squealing.

Why? It's NOT NORMAL to use the crap load of brake goop that the HP+ requires in order to be tolerable. In fact, the normal practice is to discourage the use of goop because almost all modern brake pads have no need for it and it can gum things up.

Unless you specifically requested it, I would assume that they used none whatsoever and that your pads will stay loud as shit until you wear them out. (I have had multiple sets and they don't get quieter, the only real difference is that E30 brakes are more prone to squealing than E36 or E46 in my experience. Either way, goop was mandatory.)

No. Sometimes deafening to cars next to me at the stoplight.

Even my performance ceramics from Hawk that should be quiet sometimes squeal in parking garages or other places with light slow low levels of brake use.

Brake hard and fast. Why? Because Racecar.

I believe the harder clamping allows for less vibration... Which is what goop tries to prevent IIRC
