    Control Arm Bushing BandAid

    hi all,
my front control arm bushings are bad and the arms are floating all over the place.
    i need new bushing.
but i did a quick bandaid repair that helps until a correct fix is had.
i filled the empty spaces, which were towards the center [they are standard e30 bushings not m3 but they were kinda in the m3 position] with some 9/16" x 2 1/4" long bolts and locking nuts.
i just banged them in from the front towards the back and used locknuts.
took about 20 minutes and cost about $10.
it made a major improvement, plus now they are 'eccentric' like m3.
i'm not real fast, and i'm not real slow, i'm half-fast.
    hope it helps someone.

Wait so you put bolts through the space in your lollipops to compensate for worn bushings?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Once, I had an engine with low compression, so I pulled the sparkplugs and dumped 1/4 cup of MDF sawdust into each cylinder. I figured if I used metal shavings from the brake lathe catch tray, I might get it stuck inbetween the tip and electrodes on the plugs. It worked really well, so I just kept driving.

Then the automatic transmission started slipping, so I put a 1/2 cup of Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal down the dipstick to make the clutches engage better. Still going strong.

banannas in the diff work even on lsd.

valve adjustment is time consuming and tricky.
lowes has the 'pink panther' insulation in 12" widths.
there is enough to do several cars.
just remove the valve cover and cut it to length.
i am a perfectionist so i doubled it up.
                      wow what a difference.
                      no more valve noise.
it took about 10 minutes and cost less than $5 [if you do 8 or more cars]
whats great is it isnt just for e30's!!!
works in all motors and all motor noises.
i'm going to put new banannas [they do wear out you know] in the diff and add some insulation to get rid of the bearing noise.

i would post pics but i cant do much with the polariod shots.
