stock rubber vs ss brake line

so my wife's e36 front brake lines are due for replacement so i was looking up some ss brake line on google and found some infos that ss line are not as good as they're advertised. what does r3vs thinks about this?

For a street car I would just stick with OE rubber lines.

I too have heard of some of the aftermarket SS lines failing at the fitting. I was also disappointed with the fitment of my SS lines when I installed them on my race car.

I've seen a fair number of SS line failures. Usually the failure is the line pulling out of the end fitting. I've never seen that type of failure with OE lines. That kind of makes sense if you consider the materials involved. The OE lines are more resilient and the crimp sleeves are going to have a better grip on the lines.

Like most everyone else, I put SS lines on my race car, though I did use good (i.e., expensive ones). I can't tell any difference in brake feel between SS & OE lines and this year, when it is time to change the lines and rebuild the calipers, I'm going back to OE lines.

Agree, I had a junk set of SS lines, no difference except when they came apart. I put all brand new OE rubber lines on and the car stops great even at track temps, paid half the price too.

+1 I had some SS lines that were complete crap. Put the oem ones back on for vin.

Surprising, I'm glad I saw this before purchasing the SS lines.
