Quick Question: Rear Subframe Stud Torque Spec

    Quick Question: Rear Subframe Stud Torque Spec

    I'm putting back together my rear subframe after new bushings and IE Camber and Toe Kit and I can't find a spec for what the rear bolts (the ones that pass through the bushings) should be torqued to. I've found this link but I don't know if they should be torqued to 30 or 56 ft-lbs.

    I don't have a reference handy, but those sound low. Something around 80ft-lb seems more reasonable.

        Bentley has the same numbers

        M10 is 30 ft-lbs
        M12 is 56 ft-lbs

        So if its a 10mm bolt (width) its 30 ft-lbs, 12mm bolt is 56.

        I did mine last winter at 56 ft-lbs and the subframe hasn't come off...yet. I figure the engineers at BMW know what they are doing.

          Personal Torque Values

          Subframe Pins: 80ft lbs (95ft lbs for 75D or solid bushings)
          Diff Carrier Bolt: 65ft lbs
          Trailing Arm Bolts: 65ft lbs

          PS: Rear subframe studs are 14mm.

            Interesting, I just looked at RealOEM and they have a 14mm nut to go with the bolt, so I wonder if those Bentley torque specs are for something else.

              Hmmm, so it looks like listed spec if 56 but everyone runs 80??

                  Pretty sure those are the torque specs for the front subframe bolts, not the rear ones.
