How much should I expect to replace wheel bearing

So recently I've got this horrid noise when I turn the steering wheel to the right and it's very annoying. I've read up on this and determined it to be a bad rear wheel bearing however it doesn't seem like a simple drive way job and requires $ tools. How much should I expect to pay for one and is it recommended to do both if only one is faulty?

If memory serves, book calls for 4.4 hours for both sides, so that plus the bearings and whatever else the shop decides needs replacing(brakes, e-brakes, axle/boots, etc.) while they are in there.

I took mine to a BMW shop (independent) to get it replaced. It cost $180 or so all said and done.

If its noisy when turning that would typically point to the front bearings. Under vehicle noises can be tricky to source just by ear so its a good idea to jack up the font end and check them (3&9; 6&12).

If you do take it to a shop, never tell them whats wrong, but rather say "I think but please confirm". That way if its not what you "think" it's on them. A good shop will do their own diagnosis but...
