Don't bother with jb weld, it will do nothing. Chase the threads with a tap and install the bolt. If it doesn't strip when tightening it, you should be fine.Comment

Got the subframe back in.
I decided the quickest easiest cheapest and most correct way was a heli-coil. So I drilled it out and put the coil in with some red lock tight and torqued it down and it feel great. I honestly thought I was screwed...but every thing worked out good.
I only have a pic of before the threads where drilled out, because my phone died but you can see where I accidentally drilled out the threads on the right.M30 is God's motor.....but Jesus drives an M60'd car -slammin.e28Comment

Helicoil is pretty strong.
I had a tow hook mocked onto a 1/8 inch steel tree pushing bumper on one of my old trucks using helicoil to thread the bolts into. Well the truck was towed and apparently the truck driver used my hook to pull it all the way onto the flat bed.
No nuts on the back, just helicoil and some sheet steel... But it was 2 perfect holes, not offset.
I would be worried about what you have there. That gap from the elongated hole is going to be the weak link, where a good pothole might just knock it free. Would not drive.Last edited by Exodus_2pt0; 02-24-2013, 06:28 AM.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment

Well when I drilled out the threads the hole whats pretty even on all sides. The part I accidentally drilled was just the threads, no further into the metal. I think it will be fine it held the torque with no problems and the other three bolts are fine so I think it will hold.M30 is God's motor.....but Jesus drives an M60'd car -slammin.e28Comment

FYI, helicoils are MIL-spec in aircraft applications. Lots of threaded holes in aircraft parts require threaded inserts to be used. We put them i all the time at work (I'm a machinist). People who say that helicoils suck, don't know what they are talking about.Comment
