    vert rear subframe

so although the subframes are the same and procedure is near the same, on the verts its a touch bit different getting to the nuts/bolts from the pass compartment
so many months back there was a guy who did a write up on how to get to the nuts
something about needing a 24 inch bar, bent just so....etc etc

anyone of you vert owners got a link to it,,,,i tried the search

since my car is laid up for a bit...after going nose first into a snow bank, thought I would do the rear subframe..did all the front last year
got the typical subframe clunks, have the parts

    thanks

Josh, im not sure were you got your info. but as for doing rear subframes, are all exactly the same for the 325i's.

i remove the nuts on the bottom and just let the subframe drop (on a jack)
    Much wow

you must have the car jacked up and level.

the bushing are all in the subframe they never stick to the body side.

undo the diff mount, brake lines, hand brake lines, speed sender plug, and sway bar and 17mm bolts on driveshaft.

then put a jack under the diff.

undo the 22-24mm subframe bolts. it will drop out.

now remove old, install new and reverse the process.

if it's harder than that, you are doing it worng

            I wouldn't say never.

Mine stuck in the body; I had to cut it off and drill out the remainder.

The glue they put in on top of the bolts apparently seeped through, the inside of the cup in the body as well as the bushing was covered in it.

there is a lip on the bottom of the factory mount and unless your mount is 100% broken you wont be able to leave the mount behind on the body side. spray PB blaster on anything with rust before removing it, for the back east guys.

I cut mine off with a sawzall so I could get the subframe out of the way. Cut it above the subframe and below the giant washer. Then I drilled the aluminium insert and cracked it free from the body.

And kroil >>> PB. I was a total PB freak until I tried kroil. Best penetrating oil on the market IMHO.

Edit: I had to press the subframe bushings out, they were in there pretty good.

What happens is the bolts holding the subframe to the car corrode inside the tube in center of the bushing. If you bushing are really bad, the rubber will tear, dropping the subframe, but leaving the center metal tube still attached to the bolt/car.
