    Mintex Red Box opinions.

I'm doing a full brake job soon and I'm looking for a good all around
pad that has reduced dust but still grab. Rotors will be original bmw parts.
    Thanks.

I've heard bad things about ebc pads when I was into the e36
scene. How would you compare the Mintex pads to original bmw
      pads?

a bit more dust, alot more bite. Way better @ the auto x they dont tend to get mad @ me as fast as the bmw ones. There is a really good thread on hers about best autox pad.

Yeah I have heard bad things about ebc's too.

I have the redbox's and they are decent. Good street pad, mild autox pad. Dust isn't overly huge, but evident. Have good initial bite in the cold. Haven't taken em to the track yet but we'll see how they hold up in may...

Don't really have other comparisons to other performance pads but ^^^ above is difference from stock.

Mintex= more dust than oem? I heard the opposite.

PBR Ceramics, not too dusty and great bite, stockers suck compared to them

My Redbox's are good street pads and acceptable autocross pads, as stated above. I don't think they would hold up well to HPDE use.

The are very low dust, and I think the initial bite when cold kinda sucks but after 1-2 stops they are fine.

That is like 3 months worth of brake dust on my rims, and its not thick at all.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

hmm, maybe my "oem" pads were replaced with something else that produces a little more dust...

                      EGK,

I am in the exact same position as you, in about two months doing a full brake job, going OEM Rotors and as of right now was set on Mintex Redbox as my pad. Likely I will go with them heard alot of good things, the only other pad im giving some consideration to is EBC Greens b/c ive heard some good about them too.
(Hawk HPS were in the mix, but I heard they are inferior to either of the above)

I've heard nothing but negative experiences with ebc greens or any ebc pad for that matter, Tirerack dropped their line, a couple of my coworkers run Hawk HPs and have nothing but good things to say, Mitsubishi EVO and Camaro but I decided to go with the red box pads, it seems it's a good middle of the road pad for my needs, street driven, no auto-x or track time, driven hard occassionally, low dust and cost effective.

Their location on the rear makes a big difference in dust production.

Good to know, that just further helps me affirm my decision to go with the Red Boxes also.
EGK (Ed) When are you doing your brakes?

Next weekend, buying the pads from bma, they're pretty cheap, less
                              than $30 each set.
