ABS failure

Hello!
My ABS is doing some curious things. when I'm coming to a stop, just before I stop I can feel and hear the ABS activate. It does that a few times and then the ABS light comes on and ABS stops working until I restart the car. Then the same behavior repeats itself.
I recently replaced the dash in the car so I had to unhook the ABS brain... It might have something to do with that...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My first suspicion is that you have a failing wheel speed sensor, or one heavily contaminated with ferrous dust. But it is possible that the ABS module has a bad input channel or even a problem in the ABS sensor wiring. Cleaning the sensors may help, but if that doesn't work diagnosing the problem will probably swapping in known good parts

I think that's what the previous owner did on my car; I guess that's why the light is on forevermore.

I had the same problem several years ago and it was one of the wheel sensors. I tested each sensor to determine if it generated the specified mV.

Attached is the ABS diagnosis writeup I used to test the sensor. All you need is a voltmeter; I disconnected the sensors and measured the mV on each sensor by spinning the wheels.
