    Brake pedal is soft

Hey everyone I'm having an issue with my brakes. The pedal is soft when the car is on, but when off it has the same stiffness as any normal brake pedal would. I recently had the car jacked up, and I also removed the e-brake boot. I don't see either of those could affect my brakes. I checked the brake fluid reservoir and that is full. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys.

If you pump the brakes with the car running, does the pedal firm up? Could very well be the master cylinder.

hello once again everyone, i am still having issues with my brake pedal. but i believe i may have found the problem. So i bled my brakes and everything was good, i drove around and had no issues. I let the car sit for a few hours and when i returned i found a puddle of brake fluid underneath the driver side. i dont know where the source is but i have some pictures and im hoping someone could help me out.
It is a foam piece of material that i noticed was saturated in brake fluid. any ideas of the location of a leak?
            thank you.

And I now I'm assuming its not the cylinder or brake booster bc I don't see any fluid on our around it and the leak isn't directly underneath that area.

You sure it's not coming from the bottom of the booster? There is a seal around the MC input shaft, my bet is on that.

I am still learning this vehicle and working on vehicles in general, but if it was a leak from either the brake booster or master cylinder wouldn't the leak be directly underneath it. I've noticed the leak further down in the picture posted above. It's more directly beneath the drivers seat.

I would say you've got either a pin hole leak or the proportioning valve underneath the booster is leaking.

Do you have any braking issues other than the soft pedal?

no the car will stop once the pedal is all the way to the floor.

I'd say check the proportioning valve.

im having the same problem but i left my brake system dry for like a year and until recently i drove the car rebuilt the calipers. i bled them twice but the first time my pedal was soft and it would go down to the floor to completely stop the car. after anotheer rebleed the pedal is soft even when the car is off should i keep bleeding?
