Was there a comprehensive tread on big brake upgrade for the E30's?
Brake upgrade?

You don't need big brakes until you maxed out your stock ones... which means until you are on a track with sticky tires and your cooking your brakes every session.
Spend your money elsewhere....
I will be waiting for arguments on the other side of the boat that says BBK are great for the street because it stops you better... -
I am a ricer at heart.
I want big brakes, but only for the look.
Stock brakes are adequate for my needs.
I want a turbo for the blow-off sneeze, too.
I am not kidding. I really do.
I will spend the money because I love my car.
Fun, fast, cute, cheap. E30.
OK, maybe 8 Lbs of boost for more "go", but that is it.

I echo these comments. Stock brakes can do a very good job of hauling down an E30 from speed, choosing the right components is vital. I've tracked my E30 and the only brake upgrades I had was Ate PowerDiscs, CarboTech XP8 front pads (some OEM junk in back), stock rear rotors, Motul RPF600 racing brake fluid and stock rubber brake lines. Of all these parts mentioned, the CarboTech pads are by far the most critical bit. These could take a real beating at the track with no fading issues....even after repeated hard use.Originally posted by Bavarian3You don't need big brakes until you maxed out your stock ones... which means until you are on a track with sticky tires and your cooking your brakes every session.

About the only valid argument I can give for having BBK for the street is because you dumped in a E36 M3 drivetrain or you use your E30 as tow vehicle :-P

Also, in cases like mine. Stock brakes look very very sad behind 18in open wheels :) I love having big brakes and sticky tires. My stoping distance is sooooo small. Also, they fill out the wheels pretty nice.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

yeah i hate that more than anything, partially why i bought my brakes. I upgrade when the opportunity presents itself thus why i have a bbk, and not much power to back it up....yet.Originally posted by JordanAlso, in cases like mine. If you buy (if there are any) a BBK from company for our cars, it should come with some instructions :P
If you are doing something like an e36 m3 upgrade, all that just bolts on. The fun part is just converting to 5 lug first.Rollin' with a GeistkuchenComment
