    Anyone have any experience with these

    Hey all, anybody had any experience with these? Just bought a 86 325e and the brakes are stuffed so I was wanting to replace them. Any other options would be good too.

    I'll admit they look cool, but drilled and slotted rotors are overkill for street use. I would check out a site sponsor vendor like guten or blunt, and stick to oem or a known brand, like brembo or stop tech.



    Turner motorsports sells brake job kits at a reasonable price as well.



    It's worth it to spend just a few more dollars to get quality parts from a known brand, and to support venders who will be around to help you out in the future.

      The best rotors you can get are the plain OE type. The cheapest ones you can find are usually as good as the most expensive. I use the cheapest I can find on the race car and have never had any problems with them.

        @andy thanks for that mate I'm very new to this. Was thinking along the lines of the more you spend the better. With pads though will I notice a big difference going something like the axis ultimates? There australian made which is a bonus.

        @jlevie so I won't notice a massive preformance increase from the original ones? Basically I'm driving around some bloody big hills at about 80km and I'm just worried the brakes might have some trouble with heat. I'm not driving like a dickhead, most of the time anyway, but I don't want anything failing on me.

        I actually don't even have the car running yet I'm just working my way down the list of todos.

          The OE blanks are fine for your use. As Jim said, most e30 race cars use OE rotors with no issues, and if they aren't overcooking them at the track you won't in the mountains.

          There is also a misconception that drilled rotors are better for heat, and they do dissipate heat more quickly, but the reduced mass also makes them heat up much more quickly.

            Just my +1, don't do the cross drilled slotted,, made that mistake early in my years of e30'ing.. You'll end up with a vibration, that's normal, but annoying as shit for a daily driver.. on ebay, I recommend the Callahan set,, came with oem rotor blanks all around, ceramic pads and even pad sensors! And mine were about the same price as the cheap CD+S rotors.. They've been great brakes for me so far :)

              Most race cars are built to class rules and aren't allowed to run modified brakes, because of the advantages. I've overcooked my stock brakes on mountain runs (when I was younger and dumber) and that was with rebuilt calipers, blue fluid, steel lines, good performance pads and brembo blanks. And a motor swap.

              That said, get blanks and good pads, or step up to a true BBK. Or, RX7 stuff is supposed to work well.

                Oe are cheap and work just great. that being said-- I went with stoptech and don't regret it. Just picked up rx7 brakes though only because they were a good deal.
