Anyone running a E28 or any bigger brake master cylinder on a E30?

Did a search here and on Google. Found nothing about using a brake master cylinder from E28,23,32 or something bigger (pistons) for more braking force on a E30. (with stock booster). Im sure im not pioneering here so any advice from personal experience would be helpful. Thanks.

A larger MC will give you less braking force at the caliper for a given pedal pressure.

I ran a bigger one from an old 7 series or an E28 or something. It was not a good thing. The stock E30 MC has different sized cylinders for the front/rear brakes, and a lot of the bigger cars' MC's don't. Yeah it gave improved braking power (you do have to push harder on the pedal), but the biasing was all messed up and the rear wheels would lock up. SO I went back to stock.

Most common would be the 25mm master cylinder from an E32 750. They work well when running a BBK or 5 lug conversion.

It's all basic hydraulics. A larger piston will move more fluid for the same amount of pedal travel, but because there is more surface area, it will take more pressure to move it. You won't get better braking, it will just be different braking. If you want better brakes, upgrades the pads, and if that isn't enough, get bigger brakes.

It's kind of like the difference between using a 12" ratchet and a 3 foot breaker bar to remove a bolt. The bigger MC would be like the 12" ratchet. Less movement of the handle, but harder to turn.
