Street/Track Pads - Experiences Wanted

    Of the three pad brands that I've used, PFC kicks the crap out of the rest on track. I could never get Carbotechs to last more than a weekend (but was otherwise happy with them). The Hawks were either just not that great (HT10/HT14), or loved to crack rotors (DTC70). The PFCs may cost a lot more, but they last so much longer that they are actually cheaper to run and feel better also.

      Ran HP track pads on the street and got honked at alot for sounding like a 18wheeler with bad brakes. Other than that, on track days they worked like a champ. You don't really get them up to temp from street driving. I would try the PFC pads

        Not sure what car you run them on, but I hear different things from different cars. On the e30 Carbotech last a very long time. I used to measure my pads for every track weekend and the CT's would use less than 1mm on average (pending track of course. Homestead uses pads up almost 2x that of Sebring). When we started racing the Chump e36, the DTC70's didn't crack rotors like they did on my e30, and the e36 set would last a race at Sebring, but not Road Atlanta.

        One has to wonder how much driving habit and style have to do with pad performance and wear. Kind of hard to nail down in a Crapcan car with multiple drivers per race, obviously.

          Intradasting. We are running our E30 Chump at Homestead for the 24hr on New Years. So you say it is hard on brakes? Do you expect to get 24hrs from a set of pads? We have 10hrs (at WGI, like new almost no wear) on a set of PFC08's, hoping to use them up at Homestead and hot swap for the DTC's if we run out of pad.

          How is Homestead for tires? We are running Hankook RS-3's, they seem to be wearing excellent now that we have stiffened the car up and dialed in our tire pressures, our plan is to run what we have left (60%) to the end and have a full new set waiting for when they wear out. Sorry for the thread derailment but there is good info in here.

            More great info guys, thanks. This should make a good thread for future searches.

            I used Pagid Yellows on my e24 Chumpcar and they were pretty good, never had an issue with them and they last forever. I've just read that the PFC 08's were slightly more street friendly. I think a few of the Midwest Spec e30 guys run PFC's, but I may be confusing them with some Chump teams.

              Most of the Spec racers run Hawk variants to get contingencies.
