    Best Steel Braided Brake Lines

Hi, I put my car up on the lift the other day and I put on my winter tires and did a little winter prep. However, I inspected the brake lines which are fine, but the rubber lines running to the calipers are cracking and I'd rather replace them with braided stainless steel ones because I want better braking and I don't want to have to replace them. ever. Anybody have experience and any suggestions on what you use/liked. 1987 325is 5 Speed BonzitBeigeBetallic

Forgive me but that's like asking what's your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie.

This link should be more than enough to suffice though. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=240073

Rogue engineering all the way. Every line is made to order and not just "DOT-approved" but DOT tested. Every single line comes a little wet because every single one is pressure tested before it's sent out.

ECS is having a kiler sale right now. I've been researching all the sources for brake kits and decided on their kit due to components and price. I bought the 4 wheel kits with rotors, pads, wear sensors, rotor set screws for $186! I added their stainless steel brake lines too. Heck of a deal. See http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E30-318...Kit/ES2731604/ .

                  NorseMan,

With all due respect to ECS, they are not US-made lines, nor are they DOT-approved. As mentioned in the link, the marketing-speak can get tricky.

                    SS Brake Lines

When I was searching for my M3, the only brake lines that were DOT approved, DOT tested and each line inspected/tested were StopTech, that may be different for regular E30's

See link above. There is a list of DOT-approved line suppliers. Stoptech uses the same manufacturer as a number of others on the list.

from the link at the top......

From the ECS website link you gave: "DOT-compliant 6 line kit" " They are manufactured to comply with DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) FMVSS 106 standards."

So, no, they are not DOT-Approved. Just because they are "compliant" does NOT mean they are actually street-legal dot-approved. As I mentioned, some suppliers get pretty tricky in their verbiage in order to offer a cheaper substitute.

Like I said, Rogue are the only lines on the market (to my knowledge) that are actually tested. Not just "compliant" or "approved"
