Hardline + Pinhole Leak = now what?

I found a pinhole leak in a hardline. It's the one that goes from the weird box(what is this thing? another possible leak cannidate) under the brake booster, and goes all the way back, jungle gyms around the subframe, to the t junction.

    Car is a 88' 325is ABS

I searched and read something about the dealership not having this prebent?
I don't want to try and flare my own ends...

HOW IN GOD's NAME DO I REINSTALL THIS!? o.O Any tips?

    PS
And if anyone has the address of the engineer that thought this was a good idea could I have it so I can punch him in the head?

If it is on the driver side sounds like the abs control. You need new hardline(s)

now do you mean the box thing or the hardline?

It's on the driverside near the firewall, directly under the brake booster.

      The box thing.

Is #10 the line I need?

I THINK the box thing is a pressure regulator...

#5 is the proportioning valve. It sends the correct pressure to the rear brakes. 37.00 shipped from BMA (iirc) 18 months ago,to the 48.

Have fun replacing it. It is tight in there.

I know its tight.... I can barely hand in there!
How does it clip in? I can't seem to get it out.

Thanks for the info. It's definetly helping me not lose my mind. :D

I removed the top line, and mount then used a wrench I cut off (14 I think) in the indentation on the top of the valve.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try that tomarrow after I pick up a couple parts from the dealer.

BMA is in Glendale. Assuming you are near there it is much cheaper than the dealer.

just a quick fix to keep it from leaking fast, Would be a piece of fuel hose and a small hose clamp.

I yanked the hardline already. :\

I'm going to try and replace it today.

You don't need to flare the ends. THe lines are pre-flaired. They just don't come pre bent.

I just ran this line last nite.. i have about 8 hours into it. the Local tube bender at your FLAPS won't do a tight enough radius to do some of the bends.. I ordered the pliers type bender from eastwood tools to get some of them.

The thing in the picture is what I am having a problem with also. I've pulled my MC and my brake booster for easier access. Under what you can see above on my car is a 3" long brass cylinder with a 14mm hex body. The normal 11mm BMW brake fittings screw into the top and bottom of it.

My new hose is too long so I am wondering what this 3" brass thing is and if I can replace it with something else. I'm posting a new thread with my specific problem as I'm kind of in a bind on this.

It's for the rear brake bias. If your new hose is too long, just bend it untill it fits. It doesn't matter if your hose isn't exactly like the oem fit.
