    Hi everyone.

Kovs's kit is the Race kit with 11.75" x 1.25" (300mm x 32mm) Heavy Duty rotors with directional vanes for improved cooling. That's the same diameter as the e28 M5's front discs, and even 2mm thicker than M5's stuff. Calipers are the Superlite forged calipers with stainless steel pistons for improved heat barrier between the pads and the brake fluid. Those calipers are the best bang for the buck that Wilwood has to offer. They are way stiffer than Dynalite, Dynapro and Powerlite.

A friend of mine has a similar kit on his e30 344i. Yes an e30 with a 4.4 V8, running on full slicks and he never came close to the limit of the brakes.

Be aware that as long as you have 2mm clearance all around you should be okay. Nonetheless, if using Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.0 wheels, you will have a lot more clearance. How to recognize real 1.0? They have the spoke portruding a bit beyond the face of the wheels. They have no real lips, and the brands is a sticker on the rim, it's not cast. Several shops will pass some newer 1.2 as 1.0 and you should really insist on the 1.0 that are also a bit lighter.

Please note that Mike B. has a great aluminum pedal cluster adapter for those of you who opt for some Tilton MCs and go boosterless. That would complement the system pretty well if building an all-out racecar. On this subject, I may add that calipers with 1.75" pistons will have a lot of hydraulic power, which is great if using a boosterless system, and/or a rear race kit (coming soon) with quad 1.00" pistons.

Most everyone may opt for the smallish 1.38" pistons as it allows to have stock diameter MC, even reduced travel and proper front/rear balance with stock rear set-up. Several of my customers opted for the 1.38" front calipers on their Sport kit (11.75" x 0.81" rotors) and have smiles ear to ear at track events.

Hopefully, next year, if cashflow permits, I will have more brake products for e30s. BTW If you have a shop/distributorship and want to distribute Massive products, then let's talk. I have about a dozen more products that I am awaiting to manufacture as I need more cashflow So don't be shy and have a look at the Summer Sale before the price hike.

I am also running a euro (S50B32) and there are no issues with fitment.

Mike B's Tilton adapter is a great complement to a Massive kit. I recommend calipers with big pistons though, or the driver must have a horse leg.

If you contact Tilton, they will spec M/C's for your setup. For reference the pedal ratio with the bracket should be around 6:1

I have E30M3 brakes all-around and I let Tilton know that I planned on driving the vehicle 50/50 street/track and they recommended 17mm/18mm or 18mm/19mm M/C depending on if I wanted a softer or harder pedal.

These numbers are similar to the M/C I had on my 911 with manual brakes. The pedal feel was great.

One great thing with dual MCs is that you can use a balance bar so that each one applies different linear pressures. Which is better than regulating the rear brakes with a limiting valve when using only one MC.

Yep! The bracket I'm making has a Tilton balance bar built-in.

Will this brake kit still fit under the 1.2 version of Team Dynamics?

The Race kit will fit 1.2s. This is the wheel used by Kovs. Bear in mind that this is a huge (or massive) brake kit. 300mm x 32mm is same diameter (but even thicker) as e28 M5 front brakes. Those are monster brakes and it was a challenge to make them fit certain (rare) 15" wheels as the hats are very shallow. I wonder if Kovs used 3mm spacers though (I can supply some if needed). Anyway, the mounts can also be sligthly trimmed (offset the two 12mm holes) to move the calipers in, toward the center if needed.

Compare the 1.0 (above) and 1.2 (below).

As Lee mentioned, they do fit under the 1.2s, BUT you will need to move any wheel weights to the inside, angled edge to clear the calipers.

Also, it's worth mentioning that BimmerWorld - not meant as a slam, I really like them as a vendor - is selling the 1.2 as the 1.0. Bear in mind if this is where you are planning on purchasing these wheels.

Here is what it should be with a Pro Race 1.0 - As you can see, there is a bit more room behind the spokes. As for the overall diameter, BBS race wheels have flat barrels (motorsport barrels) to allow for bigger brakes to fit. But they require to undo the barrels to mount tires...

I am just back from a 3-day event at Calabogie, a brand new track located near Ottawa, Canada. I met with several hardcore e30 drivers with dedicated track cars. About 3 of them just bought wheels from Bimmerworld and requested the 1.0 but received the 1.2

The difference between both types of wheels is obvious, and I would personally buy 1.0 as they are lighter and offer more clearance. Certainly not wanting to bash Bimmerworld as they are great people, but you should really insist on getting true 1.0

Nonetheless it should be noted that Team Dynamic in the UK has a huge problem with production and shipping enough inventory to distributors. It is therefore possible that distributors have been asking for 1.0 wheels and were shipped 1.2, not only for the e30 but also for the e30 M3 (I have customers who requested 1.0 M3 wheels and got 1.2). I guess that at this point, there is not much that Bimmerworld can do. They are dependent to what they are sold.

As I mentionned previously, there is an extra 1mm radial clearance that can be achieved by rounding of the two mounting points on the bracket, at the strut. Those mounting holes are already ovalized to adapt to many type of pads with different geometries (clearance permitting). Fitting such huge calipers under non-Motorsport wheels (flat barrels) was a mega challenge, and a little fitting is the only price to pay to outbrake everyone on the track.

I was asked this weekend what is the difference between a Massive kit and the one that RPI used to sell or the current one from UUC. Not wanting to bash them either, I would only mention that the Superlite forged caliper in our kits is a true racing caliper. It is extremely stiff, very light, has stainless steel pistons which do not transmit to the brake fluid as much heat as aluminum pistons and they have no rubber boots that can melt, crack or trap corrosive dust and keep pistons from retracting. UUC products are great quality products, but the Massive's Sport and Racer kits are designed for hard racing.

UUC's may offer more clearance with wheels, as the calipers are thinner and use thinner pads (Superlite pads are a whopping 21mm, which is thicker than many AP Racing pads).
