soak it in hot, very soapy water. keep it wet/soapy - it'll slide on fairly easily that way with a little coaxing.

the bushings are already in the retainers aka lollipops.
i need to get the bushing/lollipop assembly onto the control arms.
i tried the hot water and soap, but that isn't working to well. every time i get the bushings pressed down 2/3 of th way and let up a bit they pop back off.
so i tried it dry. i got one most of the way on so that the control arms is just about poking through the other side, but cant get it any farther even when putting all my weight on it. i way 180 pounds so yeah.
maybe some personal lubrication and some nice music? lol
          its pissing me off!

use a deep socket and a hammer to force it on. keep up with the soap/water, it does work. you shouldn't do it dry, I think BMW even lubricates them in a similar manner.

grease eats bushings doesn't it? thats why people use latex lubricants. right?
doesn't matter i got them on

Okay, here is my secret for this:

I use a spray silicone lubricant (Zep Brand) spray it on the arm pin (also be sure that it is clean and not dicked up) and spray it in the bushing.

                      Now here is the secret...

let it dry completely before you shove it on there...

Takes some twisting action but it works every time...at least the past 4 or 500 times it did.

i thought the CA pin should be able to rotate in the CAB...if you push it on without any lube, and the orientation isnt correct, would you not get preload when you went to bolt the CAB carrier up to the body?

no it doesn't rotate in the cab. you're supposed to put the car on the ground before it sets and not drive it for a little while. the rubber is tight enough on the cab that it actually twists the bushing when the suspension compresses. but I think if you had any preload, since the cab is not permanently attatched it should eventually settle to a "normal" position.
