    Brakes

I'm about to replace by brake rotors, pads, and sensors. I'm going to get some Axxis Ultimate brake pads. Is there a "best" brand of OEM rotors?
    Thanks.

    Balo?
    ATE?
    Brembo?

Just looking for a blank, I'm not racing it any time soon. I'm looking for something that stops well and lasts well.

    Opinions?

ATE Powerslot vented rotors up front and stock ones in the back.

As for pads, Axxis Ultimates worked awsome on my white e30.

Well, up until just a few days ago, i've heard nothing but incredible things about the Axxis ultimates. Unfortunately, the only complaint I got was from a guy with a e30 325is.

We've been using Rotex Kevlar pads now on all the cars and have had nothing but great things to say about them...dust free, dont seem to be abrasive to the rotors, dont squeal and have fairly good grip compared to stock...but of course i've not driven both really, really hard.

Hit up www.brakewarehouse.com and give them a call before you go ahead and buy some pads, these guys seriously know too much about brake pads, and brakes in general.

Do you know what the complaint with the pads was?

Also, are the powerslot rotors like regular slotted rotors? (Do they eat pads?)

          Thanks.

Yeah, actually he was complaining about everything about a pad that you could possibly complain about with the exception of being harsh on the rotors.

i.e. Lots of dust, not that great stopping, etc.

Wow. Is that to be believed after all the praise from other people?
Maybe he doesn't have the real deal? Seems strange.

I've got about 17k miles on my brakes, and there's plenty of pad left.. I don't think powerslots eat brakes that much faster than solid rotors. I wouldn't want to keep the same brakes on the car for more than 30k anyway :P

And would you say that they make much difference in braking?

they make a pretty good difference in bite, and they work great in the rain too. they should also help bed the pads in, since the grooves will clean off the pad and keep it from glazing over. I'm not sure how much the slots affect cooling. probably not that much.

as far as the bite.. yeah. I tapped my brakes on the freeway the other day at about 70, and chirped my tires :)

SWEEEEET. I'm gonna get some in that case. Do you have front and rear, or just front?

Also, what pads are you using?

they only make fronts, my rear are stock. pads are pagid, they work fine for me (except for the dust), but there are probably better pads out there.

the slots help prevent gassing when the brakes get hot... the gasses dont create a gap in between the pad and the caliper (part of brake fade) also there is more surface area on the rotor to allow for cooling

How are those for dust? I am going to need to do this soon and I definately want/need something that dusts less, cause the ones I have now are horrible.
