    AAE Z3 Clone Rack

i just did the rack swap with the aae z3 clone rack and it went as expected no issues. i have a no airbag car and did the garagistic hardware steering knuckle mod and rack spacer. had to clearance the top knuckle like a lot of folk but otherwise it was fine.

the rack itself is the advertised 2.7 turns lock to lock. haven't hooked up the power steering pump but everything locates the same as the z3. so far happy camper. i sourced the rack through turner, but you can cross shop with ecs, and rockauto.

careful with rockauto, you can score a deal sometimes but pay attention to the aae part number. it is different than bmw, and rockauto sells the e36 rack under almost the same aae part number. you can't order it by the bmw part number at rock auto. it's like a box of chocolates lol..

Subscribing to this post as I am curious to see how this rack turns out. From what I've seen though is you're up in Canada like me so I'm assuming your car is going to be put away in about a month or two?

just a quick update .. we had to re-center the rack before centering the steering wheel. the rack was off center a couple degrees, adjusted at the inner tie rods, then centered the steering wheel. everything is good now except for a little toe on the outer tie rods. it's much easier to do with the engine out of the bay.
