    Strut housing broken

Friend picked up an 87 project a few months ago I've been trying to get her up and going again. Got her running but now she needs to move. PO bought the car with some mods and then let it sit for a 3 years so trying to play catch up here.

The car looks to be on cheap (springs say godspped) coilovers and i assume poorly welded. The housing broke at the base and now has the wheel pushed up against the spring.

What's the plan of attack here? Can i just remove the assembly and have it rewelded or should he just purchase new coilovers? I assume new coilovers is the smart and wise move but always open to saving a dime or two.

Thanks for the help, apologies for a likely dumb question

it **could** be rewelded but i wouldn't trust the suspension geometry or anything else after. it's gotta come off the car no matter what whether replace or repair. if it was my decision i'd trash both sides and get new suspension.
