    Bilstein differences

Can anybody tell me the difference between the bilstein HD strut insert and the touring insert besides the cost? Also wondering if a KYB shock would be just as good? Thanks. I am doing the front end on a 91 318i DD for my daughter and it needs shocks. She does not drive it very aggressively!! Thanks.

If it's stock height, then the KYB's should work fine.

Some used m3 springs and kybs might be a good little upgrade for a mild DD

I would definitely just do the KYB's. Less then 1/2 the price and still a good quality part.

From what I understand, The Bilstein HD shocks are the same as Bilstein Sports as far as damping/rebound valving, just designed for stock ride height whereas Sports are designed for lowered cars. The HD's and Sports have firmer damping/rebound then the Bilstein Tourings, which are designed more for stock cars and those who desire stock suspension feel. The KYB's should offer the same thing as the Tourings, just a lower price.

Quit spreading misinformation. You clearly are parroting someone else's bullshit: KYBs have been in my car for over 50,000 miles; it is lower than yours.

KYBs are LESS likely than Bilstein to blow out from lowering.

I never said they won't work on lower cars. I would just suggest bilstein's or Koni's for lowered vehicle. No where in my statement did I bash KYB. I think they work great for a stock or slightly lowered car. A friend of mine runs them with H&R sports and they are working out perfect for him. Oh and I doubt your car is lower :) my sig is old.

How are KYB's less likely to blow from lowering? On a side note, did you have a rough morning? lol

If I buy the KYB inserts do I need to get a dust sleeve and bump stop too. The last set of bilsteins I put on came with a blue sleeve and did not need a bump stop.
