    lots of people think they have springs that are too stiff. Usually on E30s they are actually too soft, and they have no more travel (because they are really low) and they bottom out the front suspension.

    Not saying anything about KW quality.. I just think that they are more of an "off the shelf" solution meant for street cars. You get what they give you. GC is more of a custom solution, and lots of E30 guys want race suspension because they take their cars to the track often (and lots don't even drive on the street).

      e30 owners are sheep that repeat everything they hear other e30 owners saying, thats why. Everyone goes with GC's because lots of others on here have them. Same reason everyone goes with m50 swaps and skid plates and the usual exterior mods.

      While I haven't had experience with KW's specifically on an e30, I have ridden on them in VW's and Audi's and think they are great. They go lower than most e30 people would ever go and have pretty much the exact rates that GC usually specs.

        nando-Well see that's my thing, I'm not planning on making this car track status for a while. Realistically, I would probably buy another shell/car to use. I want to lower my car, because I like lowered cars. Not to make it a race car. I just like the idea of height adjustability so I can have it sit how I want. I'm not saying I won't drive spirited down back roads now and again, but I don't think I'm going to push it so hard that I need track suspension on a daily/clean/fun street car. I really think I'm going to give the KWs a shot. I don't really feel like buying springs and dealing with different placement of perches and lowering hats and all this other crap just to get another quarter inch out of the front because my springs only dropped it an inch and a half. I would rather just buy something I can put on and adjust. (To the people that do that, more power to you. It's just not for me.)

        E30SPDFRK- I didn't want to say it and spark up some beat the dead horse argument, but I totally agree. I'm probably just going to get the KWs. This is why the VW crowd is so much different, people don't take it so seriously IMO. It's not the end of the world if my tire sizes don't equate to OEM diameter. They just do stuff different and have fun with it. I love e30s, and most of the people I've met with them are cool, but there is a certain elitist mentality among a lot of them. I just want to lower my damn car and buy coilovers instead of spending $800 for springs and shocks that are completely unadjustable.

          So you're gunna drop 1500 on KW coilovers? Get some cosmos and call it a day.

                  What are you saying here?

                  I know someone with Cosmos...he suggested I get them. I just kind of laughed to myself.

                    I don't see much wrong with KW's. Their Variant 2 and 3 are pretty decent in my book.

                      if your not willing to spend $800 on gc why would you spend $1500 on kw? if you want to save money you can do something similar to what i did but it takes alittle work. first off billie sports on all corners, e36 coils with adjustable sleeves. you'l need to cut the front spring pirches but leave a small ring off it for the sleev to sit on. for the back take one sleeve to a metal supply store and get two 1" tall rings that are threaded and screw on the sleeve, weld these to the rear spring pad and then just screw the sleeve in tight. it handles and rides way better than i was expecting. even though i dont ride with it all the way lowered i dropped it once for fun and it was SLAMMED, i could only fit two finger under the oil pan and the side skirts were almost on the ground... if thats your thing then your a braver man than me, i lifted it back up so the arches rested above the wheels confortably. total in parts was around $400 i think

                        He's spending $1380 on KW's so he can go as low as the $1500 Ground Controls. Whats so hard to see about that? The KW's are a bolt in deal rather than the replace-everything-to-do-with-the-suspension GC's.

                          Where did you buy billies and spring for $400 total?

                              so every VW guy putting KWs on their cars isn't being sheep, but E30 guys
                              using custom-fit GCs are? :roll:

                              also $1500 would probably include everything - mounts, inserts, camber plates, etc. If you want to get down and dirty, springs/adjusters are $400. And it's all custom, exactly how you want it. That's the difference that could be worth it to some people, but I guess only if they are sheep according to you..

                              how many people actually have GC here anyway? I bet it's quite the minority compared to all the drop-in springs.

                                i got the shocks on sale from bav auto along with a shit-ton of other stuff for my swap. i have a 24v so yes my oil pan is unfortunatly low enough to cause this problem. and the springs/sleeves/steel rings were only like $50, its called craigslist and they are mix-matched to get the right spring rates. just shop around
