Im pretty much sold on buying the vogtland lowering springs. And im sort of on a budget so i was wondering how long the kyb gas-a-just shocks would last with these springs or should i just spend more money and get the billy sports. Thanks in advance

It's all about what you have to work with.
Kyb's get a bad rap from a lot of people, but i've seen them work out well. Luke (StereoInstaller1) runs them on his car and is a big advocate of kyb. Bilstein sports or konis will be better suited for a lowering application. For a slight or moderate drop I think the KYBs will do well (as i know someone who runs them on H&R sports). Buying the bilstein of koni will give you a damper with a higher build quality which, therefore, should last longer. But that's not to say that the KYB's won't hold up just as long.
I say go for it. The worst that can happen is you lose $140? and find out for yourself. You'll be happy as hell if they do great, you'll be somewhat unhappy if they don't. Unlike the Bilstein/koni choice where you'll be satisfied with their performance for the money, and you'll be pissed to hell if you don't like them (rare occurrence.)-tim

My car is lower than most around here, quite a bit lower than say, IE3s. Not down to CupKit levels, but pretty damn low.
I have put about 70,000 miles on these KYBs, and another 120,000 miles on my last car (that was also low) and ANOTHER 40,000 miles on another set..get the idea? None of these shocks or struts has had ANY issues.
Now, as one of the very few people on this board with any actual experience with KYBs, I came across a set of billy Sports... and I always like to save the nice stuff for my wifes car, I am just like that.
I put them on about 6 weeks ago, and now her car feels just like every other damn car I have ridden in or driven with Billys...fucking shitty.
Stiff as a fucking board, SEVERELY overdamped. Yeah, they handle nice, but who fucking cares when you need to wear a kidney belt to go to the goddamn grocery store? Bilsteins are fucking horrible, and I promise they won't last any longer than KYBs.
D'ya have any clue how many GM cars and trucks come with bilstein? ALL of the upper end suspension systems use them and the vast majority need replacing before 120,000 miles, if not by 70,000.
I can't wait to get a set of KYBs on her car. Soon as my E34 gets safely on the road her shocks and struts will be replaced...and the billys sold to some fucking name dropping R3Vtard.

that is my only complaint: they only offer the crappy "gas-a-just" rears...but the GR2 is available for the front.
Now that my rant mode is off, keep in mind that I am old...so if you are looking for razor sharp handling and are willing to sacrifice comfort, head to Billys.
Shoot, my GF is gonna be 50 this year and I am not much younger than her.

i am pretty sure i will be buying a combo of kyb/vogtland for my 90 325i because i am on a highschool budget. I wanted to go low and it seems my car will be over a 1.5" drop with this setup but ill see. i plan on buying them from ireland and ive talked to people about the kybs and ive heard nothing but good things for the money. but i have heard if you have the money go bilstein. I have no firsthand experience yet with anything but blown oem garbage so anything will be step up for me. ;)
ill let you kno in a couple months

I don't really understand all of the KYB hate. I ran them for years on musclecars; the ride was great for the price. Granted, we're talking about cars with different suspension characteristics, but there was a set installed on my e30 when I bought it (rears), and they held up great.
I ended up swapping over to Bilsteins and I honestly could not tell the difference.Jason
