New Guy here, stock spring question

Hello guys, you've got a newbie here........

I bought an '89 325i that needs shocks. I already have another car for the track and this is going to be my daily driver.

What's the difference between the "i" car and the "is" cars. Shocks, springs, bars? I am thinking about getting some used "is" springs to use since I'll have the car apart anyway. I don't want to lower much if anyl or aproach "stiff". I'm also inclined to buy the economical KYB's.

With my purpose in mind, fire some opinions back at me!

I don't think there is any difference in the springs or swaybars. sounds like a set of M3 springs would be perfect for you though.

Yeah, I think the E30 M3 springs would do fine for you. Maybe some Bilstein touring springs if you are not looking to do a lot of sport driving but just want a decent handling car.

Wow! So the "Sport" version of the Ultimate Driving Machine does not have a suspension calibration that is more taut than the base model.? Bummer!

I'll keep an eye out for the M springs but I would guess those are hard to come by.

        Thanks for the info.

not generally, although there were sport suspensions available. basically the 'sport' models came optioned out with spoilers, sport seats, OBC, etc etc, they weren't any faster and didn't handle any better. the one exception might be the LSD.

I like to think of it more that both of them got decent stuff for the day :D. With my stock setup I can out handle (and outdrive) all of my friends with there "suped up" cars (cut springs and ebay coils).

            Keep it slideways!!

actually the 'sport' 3 series did get a different suspension, hence the suggestions for m3 parts..
