How low is too low in the front? (shock travel Q)

I wanna lower the front of the E30 down some more but I'm curious about how much shock travel I need for it to be safe on the shocks. Right now at ride height, I have about 1.5" of chrome showing from the top of the strut housing to the bumpstop (that's cut in half). From the top of the strut to the bottom of the camber plate, I have about 3" (if it matters).

I wanna lower the front a little more, like 1/2", which would basically put me on the bumpstop, is that a safe move?

I wanna say yes because I have the bumpstop to protect me, I mainly don't want to destroy my struts. I have plans within a few months to get some short body koni's so I don't have to worry about this anymore.

    Comments?

    Sold.......again.

I would not cut your compression travel down to 1" after you've already cut your bumpstop in half. Just wait until you get the shortened struts.

It's doable, but you will be bottoming out more. And with bump stops already cut down, you don't have a hell of a lot of insurance for those Konis.

How much if you don't mind me asking. I think I talked to hellabad a while back about them and it was something like $160 a peice?

I still wanna save them because I was gonna sell them to help fund the new ones. They probably have a total of 10k on them.

              Sold.......again.

                I wish they was 160.
                I paid 430 shipped for 2..
The cheapest place I found selling them was summit racing.
Then I went to the local auto store and they price matched. So it worked out good.

                            Dammit!

My buddy just bought the GC coil-over race kit and I think he told me his shocks are DA's.

                            Sorry, my fault.

Still though, little pricey for me. Guess I better start saving up

I'm running 325ix shocks in mine. They were 3" shorter than stock iirc and they're on sale at BAV for $207 for both right now.
