H&R sports for the ix, and koni SA shocks. they lower about 1.25"

or if you're cheap you can do B&G springs (soft) and bilstien HDs. this is not a good setup though, you will bottom out all the time and probably blow out your struts.

if you lower too much there's a danger of wearing out your front CV axles, but that's about the worst of it.

yeah you wont get it too low.. im on h&r sports and the bilstein hd shocks. work out allright, though anytime i hit a pothole feels like the car is gonna break into two.

you'll never get it as low as a regular e30.. so if you want that slammed look that looks so hot on e30s.. you wont get it with the ix. but i guess thats countered by the amazing traction you'll get in any (and i mean ANY) winter conditions.

does your car bottom out? my car feels fine when I go over bumps.. H&R sports aren't especially stiff.

Im not too sure what you mean by bottom out, but if I go over a bad crack in the ground or bump it makes a really loud thud (like a hammer) also, I read that the Bilsteins are much more likely to "bottom out" than the Konis. Unfortunately I read that after having already ordered my bilsteins. I have yet to replace my rear shocks though, I will probably order Koni's for the rear.

Where did you get yours from?.. all the online places I've checked only stock Bilsteins for the ix.

I got them from the tirerack.. not sure if there are better places for them, but they were the cheapest place for H&R sports and I ordered them at the same time.

sounds like you could be bottoming out, but it's hard to say. I don't notice any loud noises in my car, other than the ones made from stiff suspension.

Thats why I took off the RD ix springs I had, b/c it sounded like a hammer like Sebster said and it seemed to be the cause of my ripped CV boot. Besides gravel roads don't like lowered cars.

Seb: i think it's the combination of H&R springs with the bilstein HD shock that is causing your harsh ride.. since bilsteins are pressurized shocks you want to opt for the shorter bilstein sport shocks when lowering your car..

                  lowering springs

honestly rather than spend a ton of money on aftermarket springs, I went with the springs out of an E36 M3. it dropped it about 1.5" and the ride is great.

I have Bilstein Sports with H&R springs, and my ride is harsh as hell. Probably mostly due to the old car factor. Everything is slightly loose, and makes a ton of noise.

Turn up the radio, its a fun ride if you don't worry about the noises.
