What RSMs?

Installed the e46 cabrio RSMs this weekend and the Boge shocks. Easy. They bolted right up. The reinforcement plate didn't come with them though and RealOEM didn't provide a part number for them. I'll buy them separately I guess, but I see no evidence of sheet metal stress. Ride is good.

Da Parts Pimp says it is 33526779670 and that checks with Real OEM for e46 325 Ci. What they don't have the part number listed for is the reinforcing plate. It is in the drawing though. DPP - Brian, said he'd chase that down and let me know (Brian.Scroggins at bmwofchattanooga.com)

I won't know if they fit until I try it, but others on this forum say they do. Why do you have two parts numbers?

Ordered the e46 Cabrio RSM from "Parts Dept." - Brian at BMW Chattanooga. Is it common or suggested to install the reinforcement plate with them? Should I also plan to replace the compression bushings in the shaft protection tubes?

They look shot to me. They're like 40 bucks just replace em.

RSM - change for change sake or can you tell you need them

Do you experience e30 owners change the RSM while doing the shocks, or can one determine if they're needed? I'm changing the rears shocks on my '92 Cabrio (street driving only) with the Roge shocks. RSM's get changed at the same time or no? I've been reading this and other strings and seems an upgraded RSM is preferred, even if the JTD or HD OEM (thanks Aptyp). There doesn't appear to be any metal stress visible.

130k, I just bought the car so don't know if they were replaced already. What do you think?

ive had the BMP aluminum/urethane for 5 years, no problems.

oh and i still have my second set of bushings that came with them in my closet if they ever do go out (not counting on that).

Well, ended up going with the Rogue Engineering RSMs. They seem like a quality product from what I can tell. I just got them, so I still have to install them, but I should be able get them installed this weekend.

I dont care too much about stiffness, I just want them to not break. My current ones are shot and make a clinking noise that is driving me crazy every time a accelerate or shift. I thought it was a bunch of other stuff for the longest while, ad the other day thought to check them. Sure enough they were pretty worn out.

So the e46 ones work and should last a good while?

I have the bimmerworld lifetime ones. I think it was like 40 bucks, been running them for a few years already, don't know how much better the 100 dollar mounts would be.

had E46 M3 for a long time, good value.
