I have my struts out and disassembled except for the insert, I can't seem to get the stock insert "nut" loose. Any tricks to this?

I had the same prob with mine. One was seized. The crappy pipe wrench that I had wasn't working either - just turned on the nut and ground it to hamburger.
What worked was clamping the assembly down, heating it up with a torch, tapping around the nut with a hammer, and then using a hammer and a chisel at an angle to undo it.

Get some PB Blaster, a propane torch, a chisel, a large hammer, and a pipe wrench. With these tools you will be able to remove it.Comment

Yea, thanks guys, got them off yesterday morning. Had to borrow a large vice to hold the strut down while I loosened it, that was my problem, I had nothing to hold the strut. With the vice they came off fairly easy. I'll get some pics of it now that it's dropped along with t-stars
I totally gutted and transformed the suspension with new control arms, urethane offset bushings, struts/shocks, GC coilovers, GC camber/caster plates .....and of course, the T-stars.Comment
