    Billy Sports with GC springs?

Anyone running billy sports with GC springs? I'm considering this because I want the adjustability of coils, and if i could get 450f 650r it would be only a little stiffer than an IE3 Billy combo. I wouldn't be re welding, just cutting OE perch and slipping on the GC coil.

I understand that the valving would be off, but if anyone is doing something similar I'd like to know how bad it is. I don't track the car but I do want it to handle pretty well on the back roads.

yeah that's what I was thinking, just the 400 dollar spring coil kit, but do you need to run camber plates to fit those also?

Should be fine as long as you don't go too low on them.

It will help add suspension travel to the front of the car, if you can add camber plates. If you buy them at the same time you would actually save some money too.

I have several pictures of Bilsteins and how they relate to the strut, and pictures of how the camber/caster plates add travel in my gallery that is in my sig.

Pm or call me if you have more questions,

I'm was planning to order the same exact set up today, but I didn't realize there were more than one type of camber plates. Whats the difference?

And I didn't see any savings wen getting everything together, were you referring to shipping rates?

you dont Have to buy camber plates. other than adjusting the camber, it'll drop your car a little lower too.

Can someone please measure their bilsteins length from top of the stud to center of bottom eyelet hole. Rear shocks. Thanks

Edit: both fully extended and fully compressed

My signature picture has the same setup with the race camber plates. That was about as low as I could go with that setup. The touring camber plates will be fine for most people. Just call up Jay and I'm sure he will help you out. He is the man at this stuff.

If you want to go really low, cut out half of the internal bumpstop of the Bilstein strut.

Do the race plates allow for more travel? What rates are you running?

I've heard about this from a few people, is there a write up anywhere or is it the type of think where once you get the part out it makes sense?

                        thanks guys

It just makes sense when you have it apart. All you need to do is compress the strut until the bottom pops out (it doesn't require much force).

I will say that I'm ambivalent about the Bilsteins in this setup. It's alright, but you can easily tell that the dampers were not really meant for serious springs. I'll be swapping over to a GC Koni setup in the near future.

450/650 is going to be a lot stiffer than the IE springs. The GC ones are linear rates too. I'd dread springs that stiff in a DD.

on IE3s the progressive coils end up being fully compressed once the car is off of jack stands anyways, I have two friends with e36s running 600f 700r daily and the ride is fine in their cars... I could maybe do 400f 600r but i've heard that even with 700r on e30s the ride is fine
