    ground control coilovers

hey so im interested in buying a set of GC coilovers. i do not care that much as to buy a brand new setup, but there is a member here selling theirs with 9-11k on it for $600ish. now my question is, and lets say hypothetically he drove a little sporty so they werent babied. at around how many miles you think the struts would need to be revalved and what not or anything would need to be rebuilt/replaced? overall do you think its a good deal? heres the link for it

please only respond if you are serious and willing to help me decide

Even if you have to get all the shocks rebuilt it will still be cheaper than a brand new setup by about $300 plus all the strut modification is already done. So as long as the spring rates are what you were looking to run it is a pretty good deal.

I will have to post a comment in that sale thread, its a good deal, but that is not a true, complete GC kit.

i read your post, i have a quick question. what would require it to be a true GC kit? the GC valved koni struts? and whats the difference between those? also im pretty new to E30's i have a 87 325ic. would these fit on it or i have to different size strut housing. thanks

All of that would bolt right onto your car, but it would help to know the front Koni part number

damn now im really tempted to pick this up. i was looking to go with a billie sports and h&r sports but this seems like 5x better than that setup, plus the adjustable part too :) lol

I'm pretty much in the same spot..

what's involved in getting these coil overs? do you just install shocks and then put them in place of the struts?

it seems too good of a deal to be true.

ordering a full suspension kit from gc and dont know what to pick for the front and rear springs...just gonna be a daily but im looking into motor swaps but seems like none really worth it for the ix. motor has less than 166k on it so maybe just boost it? looking for opinions on that as well. but options are

                  front: 375 440 and 525
                  rear: 475 650 and 750

Like SkinnyVT said, and there are WAY more spring rate options than that. I think the springs can be ordered in 25lb increments. Those are just the most popular combinations.

i was told by a guy on e30tech.com that he is running 375/475 on a 318is and it seems to work pretty good but wishes it was softer at times and harder at times (all suspension is like that) but should i go harder or softer with an ix? and could the motor swap play a part in it with the weight of the engine

                          ix weighs more = stiffer

That's the spring rate I run but I don't have an IX, I just have a swapped 318is.
