anyone ever have the strut stuck in the housing?

i changed the driver side without problems
but now the passenger side I have the whole strut out, rotor and all...but the oem strut just wont budge.

how should i go about removing it out of the housing?

    Try a slide hammer.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Do a barrel roll.

But seriously, I lost my mind trying to get mine apart. Heating, banging, went off for a Subway run, came back and banged it like 3 times and it came apart. I know that is of no help at all, but just hang in there.

Sorry for the revival but I'm having the same problem, i've got the collar of but the shock itself is still stuck in the housing, any tips on how i should proceed?

I've been hitting the shock perpendicular to its shaft to try and dislodge what i assume to be rust bonding the shock to its housing but it's gotten me nowhere so far.

maybe spray some penetrating oil and hopefully it will loosen something down at the bottom? I don't see it happening, but is the shock body dented in anyway? Maybe that's why it's stuck?
