    Make Your Own PS Hoses

    HI EVERYBADY!!

I have been fiddling around, looking for an answer to this and can't seem to find anything stated.

I am redoing most of my power steering system in my 325i. I have a Z3 non-M rack in my bedroom and a rebuilt pump. I just want to get the hoses.

Can I make my own power steering hoses, since I have all the endings?

I have hose rated for 400 PSI that is oil resistant that I got at NAPA. This will work for the low pressure lines (reservoir to pump, rack to reservior), but can I make my own high pressure line?

I DON'T WANT TO PAY $89 FOR A FUCKING HOSE!!

The hose on the left is hardcore NAPA shit.

This is the hose here, in it's box. What a goddamn happy box...

Or am I totally crazy and this hose is only good for the low pressure return line and reservoir to pump!?!?

The problem is you can't reuse fittings.

BMA has the hose for $62, or contact Blunt. He can usually beat their prices even further.

Ahh, that sucks. I sorta figured that with the guage thing stuck in the middle of the high pressure hose.

I'll PM Blunt (blunttech) then? I couldn't find what BMA is, other then the British Medical Association, Baltimore Museum of Art and Bermuda Monetary Authority...

I tried making my own hose. I re-used one of the fittings and secured it with a hose clamp.

        It blew-out after 3 weeks.

I took that hose to a hydraulic shop and they fabricated, from scratch, a beautiful hose in about 10 minutes that fit like a glove, will last forever and only cost around $30.
