    H&R Coils

Im currently looking very hard for a set of coilovers for mostly street duties.
H&R Coils come to mind because of my past VW experience. I had early set of KW Coils with only rear adjusting shocks (non external adjustment), and i had a friend with a set of H&R coils. The h&r's crushed my kw's in ride comfort.

Im currently looking for a super fun daily driver, so super high spring rates are not in the bill for me.

The H&rs i see on most sites for our e30's (1990 325is) look like this:

The Coils i would prefer would be these (with the helper spring):
edit: See the bottem of pic

Anybody? Can i get the pretty h&r's for my e30? Are there any other high quality coils i should consider for my e30?

I can tell you that Bilstein makes a full coilover kit, as does Ground Control. My guess is that here, you'll hear more people telling you Ground Control. I have no experience with any of them, just some info in case you didn't know of the others. ;)

looks nice in the pictures, though from my vw days weitec stuff was on the budget side. I personaly had a 60/40 'cup kit' that blew the front struts within a year :(

It is possible that the products have been improved though... anyone rockin a set of weitec coils?

There are no E30 coilovers currently made with helper springs or tender springs. Shit I would LOVE to have those, you'd actually get a decent street ride quality with a progressive tender soaking up the little bumps.

bmw motorsport made a bunch of linear rate race springs with tender springs, eibach built em. you'd probably need 60 mm perches, but they'd work. check the gruppe N catalog, they've got a sheet of rates in there.

Looks like im gonna go ahead and order the h&r's from turner. No other coil i have found for our e30s seem to be backed by the manufacturer.

May I ask why you are buying linear coilovers if you want a comfortable, street ride?

As far as i can find, linear coilovers from h&r are really the only set that fits most of my criteria. They are factory backed with a warentee, they have an outstanding reputation in my mind when compaired to other similar products, etc.

Do you have a suggestion on another hight adjustable setup that would better fit my needs?

I've ridden in a couple cars with H&R coilovers, evosport's 540i most recently, and have been very impressed. Almost cushy, more refined than my H&R cup kit, on straight driving, and then a fucking Turn Monster as soon as you tilt that wheel and nail it. Took it for a nice long drive out in the desert and was very impressed.

That has been my first hand experience with every car i have been in equiped with h&r's coilover offering. I am concerned though that the offering from h&r for the e39 application includes the helper spring setup.

Maybe Digitalwave has an e30 with h&r's and can tell me different, but i feel like hes just lettin us all know, that he knows the difference beween linear and progressive.

I don't have H&R coilovers. I am not trying to convince you of anything. I was asking you an honest question of why you wanted them for the street. You could have just answered you wanted the height adjustability or whatever you want.

I personally think if you want a cushy, low ride height, there are more obvious choices. But maybe you have different criteria.
