any body running solid tie rod ends????

I upgraded the front calipers with the Wilwood set up from Massive, but now the clearance between the brake rotors and the tie rod end ( I have Meyle Tie Rods ) is only about 1/8".

I also had to cut a section of the brake shield right on top of the tie rod, the heat will damage the boot quick.

I was thinking to run a solid tie rod end, but not sure what will fit.

I was looking at these http://www.bakerprecision.com/auror7.htm

    Any info. ?

People remove the brake dust shiel all the time. What makes you think the boot will suddenly get cooked?

The answer is NO. Do NOT run a spherical tie rod unless you're prepared to inspect prior to every use and want to replace it every couple of months.

^This. I'm running Lee's kit as well and haven't had front dust shields on for years, there have been no ill effects on the tie-rod end boot.

X2- I have No heat shields, Massive BBK, and no issues with tie rod ends.

Well that is good, very good information.

I will just remove the dust shield completely.

My biggest concern is that the tie rod is very close to the brake rotor, it is probably around 1/8" or less, not sure if the Meyle tie rods are bigger than factory and that is why is so close to the rotor.

I am worry about taking the car to track days or autocross that the tie rod could rub on the rotors when cornering hard.

Thank you very much for your help.

I see no reason why the rotor would hit the tie rod. even under hard cornering. the tie rod should be virtually the same distance from the rotor when straight as it is at full lock. the only difference is the angle of the tie rod to the rotor's inner face. You will find other problems occurring before one of the tie rods hit a "Massive" brake rotor.

I toasted some tie rod boots with the Massive setup and Meyle tie rods. The OEM(lemforder) tie rods are indeed a bit smaller and provide a bigger gap, but I'm still not 100% comfortable with the gap...
