Im assuming it was the combination of the spring rate, lowness, how worn out they already were and the fact that baltimore roads absolutely suck haha.

No, OP was probably just bottomed out on them maybe. Even then I'm surprised they blew in a short period of time. Sports are really really tough.

I've made no bones about being a big fan of theirs. GC Coilovers have been on my last two E30s and will be going on my next one.

hey, to give him some credit - knowledge that there are 2 strut diameters isn't exactly common, even within E30 enthusiasts. So he was trying, even if he wasn't correct. :)

Or you can just send your Bilsteins in and have then re-valved to your spring rates and lengths.

It sounds like a simple miscommunication, not a grand scheme to screw you out of money. That happens sometimes.

Next time, do your research before putting any cash down.

I talked to Trevor I think? So I was correct in telling him that it wasn't different. Thanks for the help btw.

45mm strut housings were only on *early* cars. the 318is was built in 1990-1991, there were only 51mm strut housings then.

There were 45mm and 51mm diameter strut housings.
It's good practice to measure yours, since PO's could've swapped 'em and its not that hard to do to be 100% sure what you're ordering.
