    Stock Suspension....anyone?

So I know the general mindset around here is to go low as possible, but i dont race or drift my car and the quality of roads here make slamming a DD quite senseless. My concern is to preserve stock ride quality with maybe a slight drop.
Maybe sachs shocks and oem M3 springs? Does anyone have this set up? how does it feel?

In my case, handling comes second after ride comfort/quality

    honest suggestions&opinions are appreciated

there are a variety of factory "sport" springs - M3, Mtech, etc. you can find part #s on realoem.com

I would use them with bilsteins. I can't imagine putting the stock Boge junk back on the car. They just don't last and aren't really that cheap. You'll have a good, firm, sporty ride without it being annoying.

I think a lot of guys use the HR Sport spring combined with Billie Sports.

Slight lowering, firms up the ride without being too stiff.

I would do H&R OE Sports with E90 drop hats in front then some cheaper dampers like KYB GR2's. The Bilsteins are expensive and overdamped for H&R sports.

You could do that ^ very cheaply and then compliment the rest of the car with sticky tires, sway bars, and some strut bracing and you will have a very nice handling car without the drawbacks of being too low or too stiff.

I have the normal H&R sports, They are a bit too stiff and low for bad roads like in the midwest. It is doable, just rather annoying to drive anywhere though.

^great information. thanks. I had a feeling bilstein sports would be a bit too stiff for my liking. (thinking female friendly here)

Lol. My DD consists of H&R race, Bilstein sports, treehouse CAB's, SpecE30 camber plates, poly subframe bushings, and poly RSM's. Not to mention crank windows and power steering delete, no radio, no cold air, not much really. Does a man good!

As usual you got interesting information (I'm being generous). If you want to maintain ride comfort, I'd look into stock or M3 springs with Bilstein *tourings*. Bilstein sport/HD are way too stiff in compression to be considered 'comfortable' as much as an E30 will ever be comfortable.

Bilstein's are stiffies, KYB or Boge will be more comfortable.

It's all about matching stuff properly.

My wife had no complaints on either of my cars. And the bronze car was running 550/750 on 215/40/17s. It actually rode better than my 318 with 375/500.

Following this with interest. Are there any discussion threads about how Lowering the McPherson Strut front suspension effects camber etc.? Thanks - and sorry for the slight hijack!
