If it helps, me and a friend used to ride 500lb front/700lb rear spring rates with bilstein sports and be fully slammed WITH the way I described to do. (my e30 in my sig is not slammed or anywhere near it.)

If you're going to running bilstein sports, it's recommended thatyou cut the internal bumpstop to help gain more strut travel. Going low takes some planning. You can't just slap shit together and expect miracles. Plan this out, and do it properly.world renown Harry Potter expert

Those spring rates look a little soft. I was looking at running 575 fronts and 650 rears. And I already have brand new bilstein shocks..so i suppose just need to shorten my housings.Last edited by JRector; 07-24-2011, 02:48 PM.

i understand they are cheap as shit but the collars are actully good quality and the same as found in a IE coil kit or even the GC kit, they say the cosmo kit doesnt fit SNUG on the tube but i hate to break it to ya i had the 400$ GC kit on my last e30 with 2 inch shortened housing and IX struts with no bump stops and the sleeve wasn't super tight on there (meaning you could still kind rotate the sleeve around the shock tube,
i know if your like me you may plan on swapping spring rates and and so on and so worth, the only thing that is skeptical about $200 is the 2.5" id springs which is a fairly common spring diameter, i not saying go buy these over a full GC kit but if you know what your doing and roughly what you want out of your setup why not...? there is also H&R AST GAZ NEX JOM any many other brands that make coilovers for our platform,
do your research and know what your buying from what ive seen with kits like JOM (which looks to be from toys r us) they are about 400$ with off shore shocks and from my expireance the shocks and struts really make the ride quality,
why not get 200$ conversion kit and get g60 konis(about 130 ea) or ix hd's (about 100$ ea) and get your tubes modified i had a fab shop do mine for about 100 bucks

are they short body billys? you only shorten the tubes if you run a strut that is actually shorter than the tubes, if your billy's are for a IX then your good, but if you shorten your tubes and say have billy sports your strut body will sit above the top of the tube, this is why people run VW strutshttp://www.cosmoracing.com/productin...d=219&pid=1822

here is the BOTTOM LINE:
if you want to do it CORRECTLY! the word CHEAP should never even be mentioned. I think you should never cheap out on something as important as suspension.
if you want a proper setup then go with the GC kit and the SHORTENED KONI'S. there is a reason for why their full coil setup comes with koni's and not billys and they tell you to shorten the housing.
IF you are doing it for just the looks and not for the performance of the car then by all means do what you like.
i am not trolling i am just giving you the best advice if you are already going to spend the money you might as well do it correctly.

youll get what your looking for... far as ride quality i mean dont expect 2k$ suspension ride quality for 400$ setup
FYI you dont have to weld anything unless you shorten the housings, you just simply grind down the stock coil perch to house the coil sleeve
