I've always hated the rear sway mounts. Besides the fact that they are flimsy to start with, the tab mounting system sucks. I dreaded needing to remove the rear sway because of the wrestling match that was re-installing them.
I even had reinforced mounts that bolted through the trunk, but my ST 19mm bar clunked and made noise because the bushing was so close to the bend in the bar.
My solution was to rip the stock sheet metal mount out completely and replace it with 3/16 plate steel. Nuts are welded on to the back and I use greasible 19mm bushings from JEGS. The bushings are inboard about 1/2" so they sit squarely on the straight part of the bar.
It's a small thing, but the car is a collection of small things.
The result is no more clunking and it feels noticeably nicer when driving becaue the bar isn't binding anymore!
