    Yeah, That is what happened to me. I bought new top mounts and installed some drop hats at the same time. I still felt it needed to be lower, so I cut a half coil. I might go back for more, but I'm ok with the height at current.

      I think cutting half a coil causes the spring to seat bad and not lock into the notch in the hat or the base correctly . I would always go one full coil on a cut spring so they seat proper

          The top mounting notch for the spring can be rotated any direction you want.... so even if it is a half of a coil it'll still sit in the notch on the top and bottom if you line it up like you would anyways.

            Except the stock E30 hats are angled and designed to sit one direction. E90 drop hats are straight though

              i just cut a half coil off my h&r race springs and i have 15mm drop hats. i havent had any problems with hitting the bump stops. i actually like the ride better. it aint so bouncy. if you havent done it yet def do it.

                I ended up not cutting the springs. I installed GC Touring camber plates which run 12mm shorter stack height than stock spring hats and mounts. It's like I put in drop hats without having drop hats!
