Camaro Shocks

Looks like the gland nut is not torqued down enough. Maybe the spacers are too long. Also modifying the top hats is a breeze. A file on cone side will to the trick. If you put it on upside down you'll see what i mean.
The Bilstein sprint series are also another alternative. I might end up going that route with the turbo car. We'll see how it handles the new power. -
I saw these shocks for the same Camaro fitment, I'm assuming they would work.
They're a bit more expensive, but made by QA1 and are user revalvable and rebuildable. For $89.00.Leave a comment:

pictures from wed for my 24v build...

3.25" spacers, 1.5" OD 1/8" wall (I couldn't find exact dimensions anywhere, so here ya go)

aforementioned AGX's, I still need to modify the tophats for the GE coilovers to fit on the agxs correctly, which is going to suck.Leave a comment:

Thanks so much for this thread making me want to get new rear shocks :)
Went to the BMW specialist that has done a bit of work on my fathers and my racecars, told him that i wanted to get some camaro rears.... he walks over to a box and hands me:

Advance Design 2 way adjustable rear shocks (from a GC setup) Rebuilt 3/3/2011 and not used since...
Said he also has the fronts in the workshop somewhere (also rebuilt 3/3/2011) and that I can have them when he finds them.
best part? they were free :) :) :) :)Leave a comment:

Geees! I got the camaro shock in the other day and didnt get the AGX; I just got the Gas-a-just OEM type chock and MAN! They are stiff! Much stiffer than the front bilstein IX shocks I compared them to. And using a home depot brass fitting sized 3/8 wide by 1.5 inches was perfect to fit in the bushing to install on the t-arm.Leave a comment:

So in total, what is needed to run the MR2 Rears in the front?
I am guessing these bearings
And what do you need a spacer for on the KYBs? They look to be longer if anything than the Bilsteins.Anyone know what the factory one is rated?
These are axial and radial load rated.

I would just cut off the bottoms of your old factory inserts and use them as spacers.
Took a gander and some measurements of the MR2 rears. All and all these definitely feel stiffer in both compression and rebound then the Bilstein IX HDs although i feel its an unfare comparison since the are pretty damn beat. The MR2 gland nuts have the same thread pitch as the Bilsteins but the are a couple thousandths of a inch smaller. The Bilstein measured in at 1.8815" and the MR2 was 1.8795". I don't think its enough to make a difference but i'm going to wrap it in teflon tape just to be on the side of caution. The strut body was also a bit narrower as the Bilstein measured in at 45.35mm and the KYB was 43.65mm. The gland nut centers it so I don't believe it will be a problem. I plan on making a sleeve for the bottom to center it as well. I'm sure its overkill because the g60 inserts are narrower as well and people just wrap them in hockey tape. Another interesting comparison is even though KYB is an inch longer then the Bilstein they are the same length when they are compressed. This is great for people who don't want to be slammed but want a thrifty alternative to Koni sports.

what are you folks doing for a spacer for the kyb agx front struts?
I don't have anybody near me (including lowes, home depot, etc) that sell pipe stock or spacers, so I have to order online.
I asked einstein by email, but he never got back to me with these measurements you need to find out what spacer to run:
- inner strut diameter
- length of spacer needed
- diameter of agx strut
- diameter of the little nub on the bottom of the agx strutLeave a comment:

^I got lost somewhere in the thread, and just to be clear the above imformation about bearings is for the mr2 inserts correct?
and the piece nigel bought from mcmasters is just a slip on piece for the camaro rears?Leave a comment:
