    Well it will achieve the same purpose as heating the tie rod but will not thermally expand the threads on the tie rod which will make it harder to remove.

      Makes total sense. I will do that and wrap a cold, wet rag around the part of the rack that is not getting heated... definitely dont want to ruin those seals.

        I do. but it wont work as most inner tie rod ends are cupped so the tool you have in mind is useless. these shouldnt be that tight. they are in constant lubrication! adjustable wrench or 27mm?? not 100% on size there will work lock ring or not ..

          ok, i just did mine a month or so ago and couldn't budge them either. i was useing straight jawed vice grips and they just kept slipping off. went and bought a pair of curved jaw vice grips, wrapped a rag around the tie rod and cranked that puppy down with the handle positiond so as to fit a cheater pipe over the handle and presto, off they came with a lot of tourque.

            well judging from his pic it will work,his inner tie rod is identical as civic inner tie
